Eleanor Canady Padgett
Eleanor Canady Padgett, 72, of Goode, VA, died Friday, June 15, 2012 at Avante.
Born Sunday, September 10, 1939 in Bedford, VA, she was a daughter of the late Roy Miller Canady and the late Nancy Geneva Padgett. She was the wife of the late Andrew Lyle Padgett.
In addition to her parents, and her husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by a daughter, Bonnie Hull, a son, David Thomas Nichols, Jr., a brother, Morris Everett Canady, and three sisters: Virginia Dare Wilburn, Nellie Jean Campbell, and Rosa Mary Smith.
Eleanor is survived by her loving companion David Nichols, a daughter, Brenda K. Mathis and her husband, Barry, of Palatka, FL, a son, Barry Lee Padgett, of Hattiesburg, MS, a brother, Jimmy Edward Canady, of Goode, a son in-law Austin Hull and his wife, Cheryl, of Goode, nine grandchildren, and one great grandson.
Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to Goode Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 178, Goode, VA, 24556.
Family was everything to Eleanor. She truly loved all of her family and was loved very much in return. She was a caregiver and known to mother everyone, both family and friends alike. Eleanor overcame a lot of adversity in her life, the loss of two children and survived two battles with cancer. She was an excellent cook and loved to share both food she had prepared and vegetables grown in the garden with family and friends.
A celebration of Eleanor's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford with Rev. Todd Childers officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM on Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory.
