DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Elmer W. Fangmann, 80, of 518 Third St. SE, Dyersville, formerly of Bankston, died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, June 25, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center-Dyersville. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Phillip F. Kruse officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Dyersville. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Reiff Funeral Home, Dyersville, where there will be a wake service at 4:30 p.m., the Farley Fire Department will meet at 7 p.m. and a Knights of Columbus rosary will be at 7:30 p.m. He was born on June 17, 1927, in New Vienna, son of Clement and Magdalina (Schroeder) Fangmann. He received his education in the St. Boniface School in New Vienna. He married Anna Marie Heisler on May 1, 1951. The couple farmed in the Bankston area until their retirement in 1995. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish in Dyersville, and a member of the Farley Knights of Columbus-Council 2001. Elmer enjoyed playing the accordion, doing lawn work, farming and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Anna Marie Fangmann, of Dyersville; six children, Dan (Linda) Fangmann, of Earlville, Dale (Arlene) Fangmann, of Farley, Deb (Dan) Lansing, of Dyersville, Jeff (Laurie) Fangmann, of Garnavillo, Kevin (Deb) Fangmann, of Farley, and Lisa Fangmann, of Dyersville; 15 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; four siblings, Julia Schlichte, of Manchester, Irene Vorwald, of New Vienna, Armella Schroeder, of Holy Cross, and Leander (Agnes) Fangmann, of Manchester; and his sisters and brothers-in-law, Walter Heisler, of Bankston, John "Jack" (Rosie) Kramer, of New Vienna, Mary Alice Fettkether, of Dyersville, and Lois Fangmann, of Manchester. He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Regina (Alphonse) Gaul, Marie (Ed) Schneider and Clara (Nick) Ruden; three brothers, Leonard (Jeanette) Fangmann, Lawrence "Burch" (Frances) Fangmann and Edwin Fangmann; and four brothers-in-law, Howard Fettkether, Clarence Schlichte, Ted Vorwald and Joe Schroeder.
