DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Marie M. Schneider, 97 of Dyersville, died Sunday, Oct. 16, 2005, at Oak Crest Manor, Dyersville, following a short illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Francis Xavier Basilica, Dyersville, with the Rev. Jerry Kopacek officiating. Burial will be in the Holy Cross (Iowa) Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kra-mer Funeral Home, Dyers-ville, where there will be a parish scripture service at 4 p.m.

She was born on April 22, 1908, in New Vienna, daughter of Clem and Magdeline (Schroeder) Fangmann.

She attended St. Boniface School, New Vienna.

She married Edmund P. Schneider on Nov. 26, 1929, in New Vienna. Together they farmed in the Holy Cross area. They were active members of the Holy Cross Catholic Church for 28 years until their retirement in 1957, when they moved to Dyersville.

Marie was very devoted to her family and church. She also enjoyed her role of being a homemaker and was always very welcoming to her many guests.

Surviving are a daughter Verna (Merlin) Maiers, of Madison, Wis.; a daughter-in-law, Darlene Schneider, of Holy Cross; eight grandchildren, June Reineke, Jeff Maiers, Jan Kirby, Starla Schneider, Shelly Chapman, Bret Schneider, Lisa Filip and Brenda Schneider; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Julia Schlichte, of Manchester, Irene Vorwald, of New Vienna, and Armella Schroeder, of Holy Cross; two brothers, Leander (Agatha) Fangmann, of Manchester, and Elmer (Anna Mae) Fangmann, of Dyersville; two sisters-in-law, Lois Fangmann, of Manchester, and Viola Schneider, of Dyersville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edmund, in 1961; parents; a son, Merlin, in 1996; two sisters, Regina Gaul and Clara Ruden; and three brothers, Lawrence, Leonard and Edwin Fangmann.
