Services were held Sunday, Sept. 15, in Tucson, Ariz., for former Clarence Center resident Raymond D. Troyer, who died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 1996, at the Westchester Nursing Home in Tempe, Ariz. Mr. Troyer, 85, owned Troyers Radio and Record store in Williamsville, which was the first in the area to display and sell television sets. He was born in Ashland, Kan.,and moved with his family to Clarence Center in 1926. His parents, Daniel S. and Sarah J., operated a general store on Clarence Center Road east of Goodrich until 1935. Mr. Troyer worked for Knickerbocker Construction and Dunlop Tire before joining the United States Cavalry in 1932. Upon his discharge from the Army, he worked at the National Gypsum plant on Roll Road and then at Bell Aircraft through World War II. Following the war, he opened Troyers Radio and Record. In the mid-1950s, Mr. Troyer rejoined Bell Aerosystems and worked there until moving to Arizona in 1959. In Arizona, Mr. Troyer was employed by Bell Aerosystems until 1970. He then worked for the Association of Universities in Research of Astronomy (A.U.R.A.) at the University of Arizona until retiring in 1980. His wife of nearly 57 years, Edna M. (Fisher) Troyer, died July 19, 1991. They were members of the Clarence Church of Christ. Survivors include three sons, seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
