MARTHA ELIZABETH (BETSY) CANADY PADGETT

Mrs. Martha Elizabeth (Betsy) Canady Padgett, 91, of Pompano Beach, Fla. and formerly of Goode, Va. died Monday, September 22, 1997 at the home of her daughter.

She was born in Bedford County, April 2, 1906, a daughter of the late Robert Edward Canady and Rosa Belle Millner Canady. She was the widow of Pack Melvin Padgett and a member of Oakland United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Lilian B. Lambert, Roy M. (Peg) Canady, Jessie J. (Jack) Canady, Cassie B. Canady, Julian M. Canady, Euna C. Dodd, Avie Iona Inge and Benjamin E. Canady.

She is survived by her daughter, Iona L. Wright and her husband, Paul of Pompano Beach, Fla.; two sisters, Thelma P. Huffine and Lena V. Johnson, both of Roanoke; four grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, 1997 at Virginia Memorial Park with the Rev. Nancy C. White officiating.
