Freelove Victoria Rhodes was born in Quinny, Wisconsin August 20. 1856 and at the time of death had reached the age of 74 years 2 months and 4 days.
She continued to live in Wisconsin until she a young woman twenty- three years of age.
In the year 1875 she was married to Riley Rhodes and they continued to make Wisconsin their home for five years at the time moving to Garfield. They have ever since lived in this county with the exception of five years spent in South Dakota.
Of this union eleven children were born of which seven survive, five daughter and two sons, they are: Mrs. Flora Mohawk, Mrs. Lizzie Trefethren, (Bessie) Mrs. Jonas Schultz, (Florence) Mrs. Andrew Porter.(Sabina) Mrs. Clifford Lucas, all of Alexandria; William Rhodes, of Iron Mountain, Mich. and Edward Rhodes of Alexandria. Also surviving beside her husband and children is one sister Daisy Amerson of Tipler, Wis., thirty-three grandchildren and seven great-children.
The deceased was a very fine woman and commanded the respect of everyone who knew her because many fine qualities.
Funeral services were held from the family home Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and from the Methodist Episcopal chruch of which the deceased was a member at 2:00 o'clock conducted by Rev.J.R. Davies.
Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Bauman, Mrs. Richard Chase and A.H. Allen sang, Asleep In Jesus. "Tis so Sweet to Trust in Jesus" and "He Hideth My Soul".
Burial was made Geneva Woods cemetery. The following six grandsons were pallbeares: Marion Mohawk, Lewis Mohawk. Lewis Porter, Frank Trefethren. Ralph Trefethren,and Melford Trefethren.
