Royal Ezekiel Rhodes passed away Saturday morning, August 11, 1934. Royal Rhodes was born at Fredon, Wis., March 2, 1852. He was the son of Hiram and Nancy Rhodes who preceded him in death.
He grew to manhood in Wisconsin and married Frelove Welch in June !874. to this union were born eleven children, three boys and eight girls Flora (Mrs. Joshua Mohawk),Lizzie (Mrs. H.B. Trefethren), Bessie (Mrs. Jonas Schultz) Edward,Sabina, Mrs. Clifford Lucas, all of this city William of Iron Mountain Mich., and Florence (Mrs. Andrew Porter) of Bagley, Minn.
His wife, one son Robert and three daughter Agnes, Lillian and Alice, preceded him in death.
He spent most of his life in Minnesota, having moved here from Wisconsin about 56 years ago. In 1885 he moved to Webster, S.D. where lived for five years. He returned to Minnesota in 1890 where he lived since.
Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2:30 from the Free Methodist church, Rev J.E. McMillan officiating. Misses Alice Baarts and Blanche Kapphahn sang "Face to Face" and " Looking This Way".
The pallbearers were C.G. Soderholm, Swan Anderson, Charley Hawkins, Ed Cassell, George Wadell and Scott Wilcox.
Interment was made in Geneva Woods Cemetery.
