Sabina C. Porter was born in Alexandria January 1, 1900, the daughter of Riley and Victoria Rhodes. She attended the Alexandria schools and had made her residence in Alexandria all her life. On April 5, 1919 she was united in marriage to Cliff Lucas. Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lucas. On March 24, 1949 she was married to Ben Porter.
Mrs. Porter died Monday, April 20, 1964 at the Douglas County hospital at Alexandria, at the age of 64 years and 3 months. Surviving are her husband, Ben Porter; three daughters and four sons: Phyllis (Mrs. Arnold Olson) and Pauline (Mrs. John Gelling) of Alexandria; Harriet (Mrs. Carl Holverson); Charles and Richard, all of Hood River, Oregon; Hugh of Van Nuys, Calif., and Jim of Alexandria. Also surviving is one sister Florence (Mrs. Alex Porter) of Tintah; two brothers: Will of Iron Mountain, Mich., and Ed of Alexandria; and 13 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, April 24, 1964 at 2 p.m. from the Anderson Funeral home. Elders of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery at Alexandria. The pallbearers were: Leslie Loch, Nick Renner, Joe Schildt, Lamont Mounsdon, George McKay and Don Schonberg.
