Jesse Flippin married first on 23 Oct 1819 in Barren Co., KY to Elizabeth H. White and they had 13 children: Albert R., Jobias (Jobes), James Allen, William Jordan, Rhoda BRYANT, Woodson, Patience WHITE, Jarvis, Nelson, Allen S., Jesse (Jr.), Mary, and Martha (possible daughter).

They moved to Gibson Co., TN by 1826 from Monroe Co., KY. By 1830 census they were in Henry Co., TN and moved back to Gibson Co. by 1836. In 1852, Jesse with his family and the families of his two married sons (Albert and James), started for California overland via St. Louis and then across Missouri, Arkansas and into Indian Territory. On this trip, his wife Elizabeth and their son Jesse died. Discouraged on the account of deaths, bad weather, and prevalence of cholera, the trip was abandoned and from Indian Territory they went to Texas and settled for a time near Mt. Pleasant, Titus Co., TX. Later they returned to Tennessee but Jesse went back to Titus Co., TX where he was in 1854. He married second to Mary P. (Bills) Walker, a widow.

Jesse was still living in Titus Co. on 1860 census. Mary was widowed by 1870 census and still in Titus Co. It is likely that Jesse is buried in Titus Co. and that he died sometime between 1860 and 1870.
