"During April Court, 1819 (BC Order Book #4), Allen Flippin was granted a license 'to keep a tavern at his house in Barren County in Pikesville who entered into bond with W.J. McCune his security in sum of £100 conditioned as law directs.'” (Arterburn, 2014. p. 32)
Allen married on 11 Nov 1824 in Barren Co., KY to Rosanna(h) "Rosy" Baugh. After their marriage, they moved to Henry Co., TN where they were on 1830 census and 1836 tax list. Allen worked as a blacksmith. The 1840 census showed them in Marion Co., Arkansas and they were in Titus Co., Texas by 1850 census.
According to Frances M. Walters, Allen married second to a widow, Mrs. Thomas (Lutitia?) Rutherford, before the 1860 census. Her daughter Julia married Allen's son William Thomas Flippin. Allen died sometime after 1854 in Titus Co., TX where he was listed as a parent of his two youngest children on the 1854 Texas Scholastic Record. His brother Jesse was also living in Titus Co. during this time.
Children of Allen and Rosanna were: J. Henderson, Laura JENKINS, William Thomas, Lou Ann JENKINS, Brit(ty) Ann Kendrick COOPER, James A., Mary J. GRIFFITH, Elizabeth W. STEVENS/STEPHANS, and Rhoda THORNTON DODSON.
