J. Kelly Padgett, age 84, of Goode, died Saturday evening in Bedford County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Bedford County, he was the son of the late Robert A. Padgett and Lena Anderson Padgett. He was a retired farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie Williams Padgett, Goode; four sons, James A. Padgett, Haywood A. Padgett, both of Richmond; Loyd R. Padgett, Montvale; Landon L. Padgett, Goode; three brothers, Carroll Padgett, Evington; Carson Padgett, Moneta; Carrington Padgett, Roanoke; two sisters, Mrs. Janie Higgins, Roanoke; Mrs. Virginia Brown, Baltimore, Md.; 17 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Carder Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. William A. Winfree and the Rev. Bobby Bennett officiating. Burial was in Timber Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery.
