MONETA - Carson Eldridge Padgett, age 76, died Thursday, May 12, 1988, in a Salem hospital. He was born in Bedford County, March 27, 1912, a son of the late Robert E. Padgett and Lena Anderson Padgett. He was a retired employee of Kenrose Manufacturing Co., a member of Radford Baptist Church, and a former member of the N & W String Band. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn Martin Padgett; a son, Ronald G. Padgett, Amherst; two daughters, Shirley P . St. Clair, Bedford; Janice P. Roope, Callaway; a brother, Carrington M. Padgett, Roanoke; two sisters, Janie P. Higgins, Roanoke; Virginia P. Brown, Baltimore, Md.; also 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Saturday at the Carder - Tharp Funeral Chapel with Dr. Bob C. Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Byrd Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Friday at the Carder - Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
