Edward Roy Rhodes was born in Webster, S.D., on Feb. 4, 1888, the son of Riley Ezekiel and Frelove Victoria Rhodes. He attended school in Alexandria and Pipestone, Minn. Mr. Rhodes lived in Alexandria most of his life, with the exception of a few years spent in Duluth and Hewitt, Minn. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Porter at Alexandria, Minn., who preceded him in death.
On June 6, 1939 he was united in marriage to Myrtle Savoy at Sisseton, S.D.
Mr. Rhodes died at Our Lady of Mercy hospital in Alexandria, Dec. 2, 1967 at the age of 79 years. He is survived by three children: Peter I. Rhodes, Norma (Mrs. John Weiderich, and Dorothy (Mrs. Wesley Swenson). Also surviving are four grandchildren; one brother, William A. Rhodes.
Funeral services were held Dec. 6, 1967 from the Anderson Funeral Chapel in Alexandria, the Rev. John Swanson officiating. Interment was in Geneva cemetery, Alexandria, Minn. Pallbearers were: Clyde Collins, Arnold Olson, Clifford Bakke, Walter Bakke, Harold Porter and Stanley Porter Sr.
